Surfacing in late 2013, Black Indie emerges with a sound that is unlike any other. Fearlessly innovative, pushing the boundaries of writing and creating music that brings feel, soul, funk and groove.

Growing up in the small tropical rainforest town of Mossman in Far North Queensland Mikhail was surrounded by music all his life. His family, obviously having the first musical influences on him had a love for classic rock & roll, Blues, R&B and of course the old nursery ryhmes from his German Grandfathers childhood.

By the age of 7, an Uncle handed him a pair of drumsticks to bang away on some cardboard boxes, by the of 10 another Uncle brought home a drumkit simply for the love of music, encouraging Mik to drum along to the likes of AC/DC, CCR and The Offspring. This was Mik's very first instrument which quickly sparked a desire for all things musical.

Finally one Christmas Mikhail was given his very own acoustic guitar. Mik found a guitar teacher in Mossman's music legends Bennet Walker and Omid Masters, Learning the basics within a matter of weeks Mikhail moved on to learning songs off the radio. During this period another local and close family friend Uncle Bruno Sagiba would gradually go on to inpsire Mikhail to find a voice in singing. These individuals have had an incredible influence in what you will hear of Black Indie. These desires to learn the guitar and sing has now become a passion of songwriting and the pursuit to follow a calling through his music.

MUSICAL INFLUENCES:

Archie Roach, Eric Clapton, John Mayer, Kings Of Leon, Gary Moore, AC/DC, James Vincent McMorrow,

Andrea Bocelli, Warumpi Band, Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson... If it's good then I'll listen to it.
